FARMERS BOYS WARDROBE PATRON

As a former member of the Royal Berkshire Regiment, The Wiltshire Regiment, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment and The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment you are welcome to come and join us as a DERR Farmers Boys Patron.

After 20 years since the formation of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment in 1959, the site of the Wardrobe was selected and established as the new home of the regiment.  Purchased from Salisbury Cathedral on a 99-year lease, a charitable trust was established in order to run the site and operate a regimental museum.  Serving members of the regiment at the time donated a day’s pay to help set the museum up and along with other donations and grants Prince Philip himself came to the Wardrobe to officially open it in 1982.

A Regimental Headquarters was also established there at the same time where the Regimental Secretary and Colonel of the Regiment (then Brigadier John Roden) were able to conduct their business.

Since 1982 the museum has developed and grown in stature and the trustees are confident that the museum will continue to be a place of display and conservation for the history of the soldiers and their service to Crown and Country.

The site itself and the facilities available are extensive. It is a site where the beautiful garden, the restaurant and the DERR Regimental Room all provide opportunities for gatherings, social events and dinners.

We would welcome your support and by joining us as a Patron you will be contributing to the survival of a wonderful establishment and be proud in the knowledge that your history will be preserved for future generations to enjoy.

As a DERR Farmers Boys Patron your membership will equate to the benefits of the Tofrek Circle. As a UK taxpayer we can also benefit from a Gift Aid declaration, which will be organized when you enroll.

We also plan to hold an annual social gathering at the Wardrobe and Patrons will be advised on details, as well as receiving an annual Newsletter.

Thank you.
